Welcome to the VMIAC!
The VMIAC is a Victorian not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to provide support, advocacy and referrals to people who are experiencing, or have experienced in the past, emotional or mental distress. The VMIAC also provides information and education about mental health services to consumers of mental health services and the wider community.
Here you will find information about the VMIAC, the work we do and how membership of the VMIAC can help you. We have added links to a number of other sites, including some from overseas. We hope you enjoy our new website and the additional services we are able to provide. It is designed for you to visit often and will be updated regularly with new meeting dates, information, publications and most importantly your own contributions.
At the VMIAC we understand the importance of being able to connect with others who understand the challenges of living with a mental illness.
Our Connections section provides the opportunity for us to be able to share our experiences, trials and successes as well as encourage and support each other. In Connections you will find both fiction and non-fiction contributions from our members as well as a messageboard where you can post and reply to messages or just have a look at topical issues in mental health.
Our new VMIAC Forum is now running- if you have something to say, the general topics section of the forum is the place to say it. Please browse the topics and and add your comments or post a new topic.
If you require any additional information, have any questions, or would like to provide feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us. You will find our mailing address and an email link at the bottom of every page. You may also contact us by phone on (03) 9380 3900.
